The PJHL has announced its Players of the Week for the week ending Dec. 1
Samuel Brown, Forward, Langley Trappers – Back-to-back 1st Star recipients will always get strong consideration for the POW and that’s what Brown pulled off last week. Despite not being on the scoresheet, Brown was 1st Star for Langley in a 3-0 home win over Grandview where he effectively covered the 200-foot sheet while looking dangerous offensively. Brown took top game honours again after a 3-2 home win over Aldergrove where he set up the goal to get Langley on the board and then set up the winner later in the second period.
Max Shin, Forward, Richmond Sockeyes – Shin scored the second hat trick of his rookie season in a 6-1 home win over Coastal Tsunami, scoring once in the second and twice in the final frame to take 1st Star honours. It was another 1st Star effort the next time out, a 9-1 road win at Mission City where he scored and set up another in the middle frame to help the Sockeyes to their fourth-straight win.
Joel Riedel, Goaltender, Abbotsford Pilots – Getting back-to-back starts last weekend, Riedel saw a massive volume of shots and his work in the crease helped the Pilots earn a split. He made 37 stops and gave his teammates a chance, not allowing a goal over the final 40 minutes to take 3rd Star in a 4-0 setback to visiting Port Coquitlam. Coming back the next night at White Rock, he was even better in making 52 saves in a 5-3 road win over the Whalers where he was named 2nd Star.
