The Pacific Junior Hockey League is proud to announce that four players with roots in the league are attending NHL Development Camps this month. Representing the calibre of junior hockey development in BC, these players — one forward, one defenseman, and two goaltenders — used the PJHL as a stepping stone on their path to Major Junior, Junior A, and NCAA collegiate careers.
Forward Carson Latimer leads the group, having led all PJHL rookies in scoring with 12 points in eight games for the Port Moody Panthers during the COVID-19 shortened 2020-21 season. Using the PJHL to stay in game shape during an uncertain hockey year, he jumped to the Western Hockey League’s Edmonton Oil Kings, eventually earning a fourth-round selection by the Ottawa Senators in the 2021 NHL Draft. He currently plays NCAA hockey for Michigan Tech and is attending the Dallas Stars Development Camp this week.
Goaltender Callum Tung appeared in eight games for the Port Moody Panthers and one for the North Vancouver Wolf Pack during the 2022-23 season before advancing to the BCHL with Alberni Valley and NCAA ranks with UConn. He signed a three-year entry-level contract with the New York Rangers in April 2025 and has since seen solid professional action in both the AHL and ECHL, participating in the New York Rangers Development Camp.
Goaltender Joshua Kotai made an impact during the abbreviated 2020-21 campaign, appearing in three games for the Aldergrove Kodiaks where he posted a 2-1-0 record, a 2.67 goals-against average, and one shutout. He played the next season in the EHL with Vermont before jumping to the SJHL with the Battlefords North Stars. His standout NCAA career at Augustana University earned him an invite to the New York Islanders Development Camp.
Defenseman Ryan Lin rounds out the alumni, with the Richmond, BC native making a single-game affiliate appearance with the Sockeyes during the 2023-24 season before starring for the WHL’s Vancouver Giants. He was selected 21st overall in the first round of the 2026 NHL Draft by the San Jose Sharks and is participating in their summer development program.
In the British Columbia junior hockey landscape, the PJHL remains a vital springboard for early junior exposure and affiliate call-ups. The PJHL congratulates Latimer, Tung, Kotai, and Lin on their achievements and wishes them the best at their respective NHL Development Camps.
