Lin, Jack, Balchen Take POWs

The PJHL has announced its Players of the Week for the week ending Oct. 20.

Teo Lin, Forward, Richmond Sockeyes – Lin got it going early and often in the week that was with two power-play goals and then two helpers on the way to a 9-1 road win at Surrey where he 2nd Star. After posting and assist in the first game of a Friday-Saturday doubleheader visit to Coastal, a 3-2 triumph, Lin wrapped his week in the finale against the Tsunami by scoring both Sockeyes goals in regulation and then assisting on the shorthanded overtime winner scored by Nicholas Noren in a 3-2 win. Lin was named 1st Star for his work on Saturday.

Marcus Jack, Forward, Port Coquitlam Trailblazers – In a Thursday-Friday, home-and-home set against Surrey last week, Jack had identical 2-2-4 stat lines, helping the Trailblazers to a pair of wins. In the first contest in Surrey, Jack scored the opener and then set up the winner in the first period before adding another tally and a helper on his was to 1st Star in a 5-1 final over the Knights. Friday night at Poco, Jack was 2nd star after he scored the opener again and then spurred a third-period comeback with a goal and an assist on the winner late in regulation in a 6-5 victory.

Ty Balchen, Forward, Port Moody Panthers – Having just one game to do the damage needed for a POW, Balchen got it done to the tune of five points, including the game-winner and a 1st Star nod in a 7-6 home win over North Van. Balchen was busy late in each period as he scored his first with just over two minutes to go in the first, assisted with less than a minute left in the second and then scored twice in the final three minutes of regulation to complete the comeback win.
