PJHL Strengthens Concussion Management with HeadCheck Health

League utilizes industry-leading software platform to improve player safety

VANCOUVER, CANADA (September 16, 2021) – The Pacific Junior Hockey League (‘PJHL’) today announced an extension of their agreement with software company HeadCheck Health, Inc. (‘HeadCheck’) that equips all 13 teams with the HeadCheck Pro web and app-based concussion management platform.

The platform enables the PJHL to advance player safety by streamlining all concussion documentation, testing, and return-to-play management. The digital setup provides team staff, from Athletic Therapists to Physicians and other Medical staff, with the ability to collaborate on care in a consistent fashion, in-line with the League protocol. The digital collection of aggregate data can inform meaningful changes to policy and rules based on League-specific trends.

β€œBeing partnered with HeadCheck for a number of years, they continue to find better and better ways to serve our teams and athletes. Through innovation and communication, this partnership continues to make our league a better place for our athletes,” said Trevor Alto, Commissioner of the PJHL. β€œPlayer safety is a high priority in the PJHL and working with HeadCheck, as one of the leaders in player safety technology, we feel gives our players and their families a level of comfort that our teams have the enhanced ability to identify head injuries and concussions, manage the injury and work with the athlete and medical professionals on a safe successful return to play.”

“Using the HeadCheck system became an integral part of ensuring that all of the players involved had all the tools needed to be educated on concussions,” said Daniel Mack, Trainer for the Langley Trappers. β€œWhen a concussion would occur, it was a simple and effective tool that provided clarity and confidence in recognizing and managing players with concussions and their subsequent recovery.”

β€œWe’re proud to work with organizations like the PJHL that take a proactive approach to player safety,” said Harrison Brown, CEO of HeadCheck Health. β€œWe will continue to find new and innovative ways to support them in making their league a smart choice for young hockey players and their families.”
