The PJHL has announced its Players of the Week for the week ending Dec. 8.
Grady Lenton, Forward, Delta Ice Hawks – Getting in on eight of his team’s nine goals, Lenton had a massive night on the scoresheet in a wild and crazy 9-7 home win for the Ice Hawks over Chilliwack that gave the Jets just their third loss of the season at the time. The hometown Delta product scored twice in the first and set up another, scored twice more in the middle frame with two more helpers and then added his fifth of the night in the third, which wound up being important when the Jets potted two late. His five goals and three assists earned him 1st Star honours.
Garin Wickstrom, Goaltender, White Rock Whalers – Like Lenton, Wickstrom had just one game to make an impression in the week that was, Wickstrom made a great one with 48 stops on 49 shots plus all three attempts in the shootout to backstop the Whalers to a 2-1 win over the Ridge Meadows Flames. It was just the fifth time this year the Flames have been defeated and the first time in a shootout. Wickstrom was named the game’s 1st Star.
David Yoon, Forward, North Vancouver Wolf Pack – A pair of third-period helpers from Yoon were key for the Wolf Pack in a 7-4 home win over Port Coquitlam where he was 2nd Star. The Langley product did the finishing himself the next time out, scoring twice in the third period – including the game-winner – in a 4-1 road win at Chilliwack where he was again 2nd Star.
