POWs: Williamson, Merriman, Fortems

The PJHL has announced its Players of the Week for the week of October 10 to 16.

Brendan Williamson, F, Chilliwack Jets – Williamson played just one of Chilliwack’s two games for the week but made it count in a huge way with a five-goal outburst in a Jets 10-2 home win over Abbotsford. The homegrown Chilliwack product scored twice in the first, completed the hat trick with a power-play goal in the second and added the fourth and fifth tallies of the night in the final frame.

Carson Merriman, F, Delta Ice Hawks – With 10 points for the week, Merriman helped his team to three wins as Delta scored 36 goals in three games. Merriman got going on the road with two goals – including the game-winner – and an assist in a 10-1 win over North Van. The next day, the Surrey native scored a hat trick, with another game-winner, plus two helpers in a 16-0 home win over Aldergrove where he was named 1st Star. Merriman wrapped his week with pair of goals in a 10-0 road win over Abbotsford.

Chris Fortems, F, White Rock Whalers – The PJHL’s leading assist-getter added eight helpers to his tally as part of an 11-point week that led the Whalers to two wins in three outings. Fortems had two assists and was 3rd Star in a 6-2 home win over Port Moody on Thanksgiving Monday to start the week. The Delta native had a goal and an assist in a 7-4 setback at Ridge Meadows and finished his week with a bang, picking up two goals and five assists as part of a Whalers 9-2 win over Surrey.
