The PJHL has announced its Players of the Week for the week ending Dec. 17.
Thomas Popa, Goaltender, Richmond Sockeyes – The Richmond steamroller continues almost unimpeded as the team carries a record of 30-1-2 into the holiday break. Popa’s play in net is a big reason why and in his two latest outings, he allowed just a pair of goals against. He earned 3rd Star after making 21 saves in a 6-0 shutout of Langley and followed that making 25 saves on 27 shots in a 6-2 road win at Mission City.
Nathan Bran, Forward, White Rock Whalers – Bran posted a pair of three-point games, including a hat trick, in helping the Whalers to a pair of wins. The Coquitlam native scored the opener and assisted on two third-period goals in a 6-4 road at Poco. Bran followed that with his second hat trick of the season, scoring a goal in the second and two in the third in a 4-1 road win over Grandview.
William Huo, Forward, Richmond Sockeyes – In a busy three-game week for the Sockeyes, Huo made an impact on the scoresheet each outing and recorded five points. He scored twice and was named 1st Star in a 6-0 road win at Langley and then played set-up man in Richmond’s next game, a 7-4 win over Poco. The homegrown Richmond product scored the equalizer against Mission City as the Sockeyes went on to a 6-2 victory to wrap up the week.
