Goals coming fast and furious of late for Ice Hawks
Recent additions making a difference for junior hockey team

Goals have certainly been easy to come by of late for the Delta Ice Hawks since making several additions to their roster.

The Hawks have scored 30 goals in their last four games including a 10-3 victory over the visiting Abbotsford Pilots on Tuesday night at the Ladner Leisure Centre. They have gone 3-1-0 over that stretch to improve to 7-4-0-1 on the season.

Recently-signed Dalton MacGillivray led the way with a hat trick and a pair of assists. The 16-year-old from Cloverdale, who attended the BC Hockey League’s Vernon Vipers training camp, now has 17 points in nine games to rank fifth in league scoring.

Ladner blueliner Carson Hemenway continued his blazing start since joining his hometown team with a hat trick and an assist Tuesday. The 19-year-old, who has a couple of years of experience in the BCHL, has eight points in five games.

Team captain Alec Scouras solidified his spot among the league’s top scorers with a five-point night, including a goal. Kyle Kalamaras added a goal and a pair of helpers. Kyle Robinson and Dominic Passalacqua-Main had the other goals.

The lone blemish to the Hawks’ recent play, was a 6-5 road loss to the Ridge Meadows Flames last Friday (Oct. 8) that saw Delta outshoot the hosts 44-22 but played catch-up hockey the entire night. A power play goal with 4:49 remaining broke a 5-5 deadlock.

The Ice Hawks return to action Tuesday (Oct. 19) when the Grandview Steelers visit Ladner for a 7:35 p.m. face off.
